Chubetsu River

Yasuko and Koby left for school today at 7:50am, while Evan and I had breakfast of eggs, bacon and toast. After we got the clothes hung up to dry (dryers are a luxury here and most people hang things up to dry) we went for a walk near the Chubetsu river.

The big river is about a half mile walk away and is full of rainbow trout. No fishing license required here, the government is not like America, always trying to find a way to extract money from you at every given moment.

I am looking forward to learning how to fly fish. Free vegetables, Free Fish... What a great place to live. We listened to the nice sounds of the river flowing against the river rocks, and threw rocks into the water.

Yasuko came home for lunch and has to go back at 1:30pm, Evan and the neighbors girl are playing together, she is in first grade this year. Koby will get home around 3:00pm today.

After school Koby went to one of his classmates house to play, when Yasuko went to pick him up, she came back with 2 large bags filled with potatoes, cabbage, green onions, radishes, and fresh horseradish, straight out of the garden.

For dinner we had fried noodles with vegetables and gravy.
